Organic Virgin Coconut Oil

By now you’ve no doubt heard all the hype about coconut oil and its miracle uses. When it comes to skincare, however, this oil extracted from the kernel of the coconut is the real deal.

Coconut oil has powerful emollient effects, which means it softens and smoothes the skin beautifully. It can be used as a soothing moisturizer without any chemical processing (cold pressed virgin coconut oil is best, if you plan to try this).

This wunderkind of vegetable oils is also antibacterial, which is particularly effective in a natural deodorant: it both neutralizes the smell of bacteria and extends the shelf life of skincare products because of its stability.

All of that being said, don’t start slathering coconut oil on your face and calling it your nightly beauty routine: it’s also comedogenic, which means it tends to block pores, and cause blackheads. Best to use it for general moisturizing, and keep it away from any breakouts or acne.
